Kent Newsham, a 1978
PSU Geosciences graduate who is now at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation,
has - along with his wife - set up the Kent and Helen Newsham Petroleum
GeoSystems Endowment.
One purpose
of this endowment is to enrich the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences
by providing support to the Petroleum GeoSystems Initiative.
Toward this end funds may be used to support:
- student scholarships
- student travel
- workshops and short courses
- computer hardware and software
- or other direct support of the Initiative students
Members of the first GeoSystems Team
visit an oil rig.
A secondary purpose of the Newsham Endowment is to support the Wallops Island field trip undertaken by geosciences students.
Members of the Fall 2002 Issues in Geosciences course do field work on the Wallops Island field trip.
